Author's Note: When I was on the Psychology faculty at Michigan State I taught the developmental courses (Child and Adolescent Psychology). Since our research focused on those age groups, I got to see a lot of classrooms and meet a lot of teachers and principals, some of whom had been my former students. The more educators I met, the more I realized how underrated, overworked, and underpaid they were. I decided that in my retirement I would write a novel that might be a tribute to those women and men who have chosen to teach our children and grandchildren. I can only hope that Charlie's Angle is a worthy acknowledgement of the good work they do day in and day out.
